November is Manatee Awareness Month, Lets Make Waves

Hello PHoPS
Saving the manatees was one of Jimmy’s passion projects. Please see below for information on the Save the Manatee charitable organization for more details on this amazing creature and how to to help.

November 1 marks the beginning of Manatee Awareness Month, and as we all know, Jimmy started Save the Manatee, and we’re ready to make waves of care, action, and kindness all month long.

Manatees are returning to Florida’s warm-water springs, and we’re calling on our amazing community to celebrate their being and help raise awareness for the challenges they face and the steps we can all take to protect them.

This year’s theme focuses on the ripples of kindness each of us creates. Whether you’re sharing your adoption story, joining us for a virtual event, or simply spreading the word, every action matters.

Here’s how to get involved:

  • Visit our Manatee Awareness Month Hub: Live now with videos, activities, and tips for how to help.
  • Share your “Why I Adopt” story: Post a reel, photo, or favorite memory and tag @savethemanateeclub. You can also check out our social media toolkit for more ways to share the love for manatees.
  • Join our free webinar: Manatee Law School
    Monday, November 3 | 12:00–1:00 p.m. EST
Learn about laws that help protect manatees and their habitat. No legal background required!

Manatee Awareness Month is more than a celebration—it’s a reminder that your voice, your care, and your actions help protect manatees every day.

Thank you for being part of this movement.

This Saturday Saltshaker Social – Edmonds own A Very Taki Tiki Bar

Good morning Parrot Heads!!

This Saturday, November 8th, our Saltshaker Saturday Social will be returning to one of my favorite tiki bars, A Very Taki Tiki Bar & Grill in Edmonds.  They have been a very welcoming host for our past events there, and they go all out to make us feel welcome.  They offer a fun drink and food menu.  The party runs from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

We are asking those attending to bring nonperishable food items, which will be donated to the Snohomish County Volunteers of America Food Bank.  Can’t get to the store??  No worries, we will gladly accept cash donations as well.  With the ongoing government shutdown, many people in our communities are facing serious hardships.  Let’s do what we always do, “Party with a Purpose” to help our neighbors in need.  Please see the list below for the most needed items.
